The reason that avast is doing what you said is because if you dont specify the correct scanning folders it will scan the wrong areas and then display that message during the scanning process. You need to detick your floppy drive and cd drives and make sure all the other areas are selected this should cure your problem. The first rule of a virus infection is dont panic it can be resolved if you know what your doing. Maybe they should learn things correctly and not assume something is worthless because they cant use it!

Mar 21, 2013  Best Answer: I run Avast and I just did a Full scan and noticed alot more 'unable to scan files' though I scanned through the list and know what all of them are and know they are safe. I CAN NOT say the same for you without knowing what software you have installed, and what the list of files look like, though (in my case) I am not worried one bit.
