I suggest you test in a new User. I'm not seeing any issues like you describe.

Yesterday I upgraded client's computer to Win 2000 Pro and app from Office 2000 to Office 2003. 'My Documents' folder is hosted in home directory on server. I brought back computer, remapped 'My Docs' icon to home directory, and left happy. Today she calls and says all of her documents in 'My Docs' on server have been renamed 'Copy of.' Followed by the original name. She's right, and I have no idea why that happened. (Note: New documents are not affected.)
