I am having problems with Word for Mac 2011. I have to edit copy supplied for a magazine, and the supplied copy is full of anomalies like double spacing, dashes where en rules should be, paragraphs indented with 4 spaces (instead of building the indent into the paragraph style), etc, etc. When I used a Windows machine I could press the record macro button and then start finding and replacing all of the (long) list of items that I needed to change. I then pressed the 'stop recording' button, and could then simply open the next document, run the macro and it cleaned up the copy in an instant. When I bought Microsoft Office for Mac 2011, I expected to do the same thing - but for some reason the macro will not run - or maybe only the first instruction. I have read somewhere that recording macros in Word for Mac simply does not work - but I find that hard to believe.
Surely a company of Microsoft's size would be able to fix that? I have also heard that it doesn't record mouse movements and clicks, so you have to record everything with keystrokes, but that is easier said than done (and a bit clunky, since there is no need for that on a Windows machine).
